The Escape Room

This year, my class gets to help develop an “escape room” project for the grades below us. The idea is to creatively and interactively help these classes review and study the HIPAA protocols. The scenario is that there has been contamination within the hospital from a patient with Clostridioides difficile. The room has accurate medical technology and personal care items. The goal is to safely protect yourself, other patients, and the hospital from contamination while following HIPAA guidelines.

Some of the clues that my class developed started with diagnosing the patient with C. Diff. This includes a hidden patient file under the patient's bed, including a diagnosis, patient information, and a scrambled prescription. They then will have to unscramble the prescription and locate the pill bottle. After they find it, they will discover a password hidden inside the bottle. This password will unlock a lockbox with the code 3333, which is the Spring Hill Hospital code for Infectious contamination. This is where my class ended with the clues, allowing the other class to finish the escape room. This was so much fun and I cannot wait to see how this plays out!

My Paper

This week, I spent the majority of my time working on my paper. So far, my main issue has been having too much information. Right now, I haven't even used all the information on my notecards and I have over seven pages. I plan to use most class days to work on my paper and some weekends to research nutritional sciences. So far, I have learned so much about Sports Nutrition and it is really feeding my passion! I am excited to keep working and researching!
