The Lab

This week in Biomed our lab was on Surgical Dexterity. We were tasked to remove the seeds from the inside of a raw bell pepper. Each person was tasked to use the forceps to remove the seeds, with their nondominant hand. This was supposed to simulate the removal of cancer cells inside a patient. We were supposed to remove one seed at a time and not touch any other part of the pepper. However, since I am ambidextrous I had to switch hands each round. I found this lab pretty easy since I can use both hands easily. We were given 60 seconds for each round to try to remove as many seeds as possible. Throughout each round, I slowly began to run out of seeds, which is why my numbers began to decrease. Overall, this lab was so much fun and I enjoyed it!

My Paper

This week, I made some great progress on my paper. I have become very interested in personalized genomics and insect-based proteins. I have watched multiple videos and I have logged into my old South Alabama account to access their medical library. I am actually enjoying writing this paper! It has been so easy to just write and I am worried about having too much information. One of the main things I have been struggling with has been the formatting and citations. I am just getting used to using the APA format, but I am slowly getting better. Next week, I have a lab shadow with Dr. Henry and I am so excited!
