DAY 1:

Adolescent Brain

The Adolescent Brain is affected more greatly than the fully developed brain. Alcohol and other drugs compromise the growth of the brain. Youth who drink show reduced brain response, and test low on vocabulary, general information, memory, and memory retrieval.

The Facts of Marijuana

There are many different dangers of marijuana, for example; it interferes with attention, motivation, memory and learning. If used during the teen years, it can lead to a decrease in your IQ. Marijuana is very bad for the developing brain, it stunts the growth and development of your Hippocampus. Marijuana has a stronger reaction in today's society than a few decades ago because they have modified THC levels. The THC is what makes marijuana so addictive.

E-Cigarettes and Vaping

E-Cigarettes were introduced to the teen society in 2003. They were originally made to be a sensation device to help smokers quit smoking. Vapes and E-Cigarettes are not FDA approved or regulated, meaning that the consumers do not know what is in the vapes, and the producers do not have to be completely honest about what they are selling. Which is one thing that makes them so dangerous. The marketing of vapes and E-Cigarettes is highly targeted on younger customers. The Adolescent brain registers nicotine stronger than a developed brain, which makes it easier for them to get addicted. This is an model to show how much nicotine is in one juul pod.

Prescription Drugs

Prescription drug misuse is a very common public health issue. To prevent this, always make sure you take the right amount of your medicine and only take what you are proscribed. Do not take pills from friends, you do not know where they came from. There are many types of prescription drugs, such as opioids, stimulants, and depressants. Opioids are used to relieve pain. Stimulants are used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorders(ADHD). Depressants are used to relieve anxiety or help a person sleep. Always be careful when disposing of prescription drugs. If you are going to get rid of drugs, take them back to the pharmacy. Do not throw them away, someone can get them. If you do not know what else to do with your prescriptions, you can take them to the police department and they will dispose of them for you.
