Forensics Week: Day 4

April 28th, 2022

Fake Car Crash

Today, we investigated fake crash scenes with fake scenarios that was created by Mr. Garside and the Sargent. We were split into teams and were sent out for 10 minutes to investigate the car.

My team had a black Chrysler hit and run. Over our investigation, we used clues to come to the conclusion that the driver of the car was distracted or under the influence. The hit was an accident and the person driving the car fled the scene. We decided to send in some DNA samples and worked together to investigate the trash, receipts, finger prints, and skid marks. Using everything that we were taught this week, we were able to properly solve the case.

These skid marks proved the theory that the driver was distracted. Since the skid marks start after the boots, this shows that the driver didn't attempt to stop until they hit the victim. The force of the car was so great, it managed to knock the boots off the victims feet.

Finally, we believed that the owner of the car was a parent. In the car we found mail for children pictures, Pokemon cards, and children snacks. All of these pieces of evidence suggest that the owner was a parent.
